Monday 30th August - Tide times update

Weekend Tide Times Update
The tide times have been updated for this coming weekend.

The tide times for today are 6.30pm high tide and 12am for low tide.

PRINCESS PIER
A little busier than last week. Float fishing is still better at dusk and dawn. Wrasse between 1lb and 3lb have been caught from Haldon Pier.

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
Also picked up a little bit over the weekend. Lots of bites coming in at dusk with a few large fish taking large baits (whole squids, mackerel fillets etc). Maybe a good spot to visit for the coming tournament starting this weekend?

Saturday 28th August - Shore fishing update

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
Things are still quite slow here at the moment. On average people are catching one an hour. A couple of hours before dusk and the night fishing seems a little better.

PRINCESS PIER
A little busier at the moment but still pretty quiet. Same as above in that a little before dusk gives a boost to the catches.

BABBACOMBE PIER
Smooth hounds are no longer being caught here. Still a number of dog fish at night.

Wednesday 25th August - Shore fishing update

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
Went down to Brixham breakwater last night during the Wind and downpours. Everyone including me left with nothing. Very little out there at the moment.

The smooth hounds that we reported were in the bay last week now look as if they've gone. If you've caught one in the last couple of days please let us know.

Tide times today are 1pm for high tide and 7.20pm for low tide.

Today I've added a fishing guide for Brixham Breakwater in the places to fish section.

Monday 23rd August - Tide times updated

This coming weekends tide times has been added to the tide times page.

Reports over the weekend have been minimal due to weather. All over Torquay was quiet. The Smooth hounds are reported to be in the Babbacombe area.

Tide times today are high tide 11pm and low tide is 4.30pm

Saturday 20th August - Fishing update

Torquay
I went fishing by Living coasts today and float fished some wrasse and pollock. Smooth Hounds are also being caught in Torquay at night. Night time fishing for bass is still good in Torquay.

Brixham Breakwater is still producing mackerel and bass on lures.

Friday 19th August - Fishing update

Went fishing with my nephew yesterday evening. Not much out there but I did get my personal best Wrasse (see photos section).

Tide times today are 9pm for high tide and 2.30pm for low tide.

Wednesday 18th August - Fishing update

PRINCESS PIER
A few of us braved the gale force winds and downpours last night on the pier. We were rewarded with plenty of mackerel, garfish, pollock and wrasse. The floats went quiet around 8pm so I switched the bottom which was also busy.

Tide times today are 7.55pm for high tide and 1.15pm for low tide.

Tuesday 17th August - Fishing update

Near Princess pier
Went to a new spot yesterday between 5pm and 8pm. I was close to living coasts and caught nothing on the top or bottom. I was using mackerel for bait and nothing took.

Tide times today are 7.20pm for high tide and 12.45pm for low tide.

Sunday 15th August - Fishing update

Location: Torquay (personal spot)
Caught 3 kinds of rarer fish in Torquay today. Another black Bream, a Red Mullet and a Ballen Wrasse.

All caught on ragworm fishing the bottom.

Saturday 14th August - Fishing update

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
The breakwater is still producing quite a number of mackerel but not much else.

PRINCESS PIER
Mackerel and Pollock being produced. Night fishing there good at the moment. Number of bass and pollock and dogfish.

SLAPTON SANDS
I went there today from 9am to 3pm. Not a single bite.

Tuesday 10th August - Fishing update

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
The end of the breakwater yesterday produced hundreds of mackerel for everyone float fishing there. This was both fishing out to sea and inside the marina. I was there between 5pm and 7.30pm but people who had been fishing most of the day also had lots of mackerel. Depths varied from 8 to 12ft deep.

No reports of the dolphins the last couple of days.

Not much to report over the weekend. Babbacombe pier is still producing mackerel but apparently not as many dog fish at the moment.

Friday 6th August - Fishing news roundup around Devon

Sea Fishing News
Princess Pier has been it's usual all or nothing most of this week. Garfish are starting to appear now as are the Mackerel. The odd bream is also being caught on floats.

Meadfoot beach has been quite busy at night when fishing from the cliff side of the beach.

Babbacombe Pier is producing quite a few mackerel and at night quite a number of dogfish.

No reports from Hopes nose or Brixham Breakwater this week so far.

Don't forget to check out the tide times for this weekend if you fancy a spot of fishing in Torbay.

Gas blamed for death of fish
A poisonous gas probably resulting from chlorine was the most likely cause of death for the 1,200+ fish in the river Lemon in Newton Abbot. The fish species included flounder, plaice and salmon.

Free fishing lessons
This Saturday at Rackerhayes Pond in Newton Abbot anyone of any age is invited to come along and get free fishing lessons. Other attractions include sea angling casting and fly fishing coaching.

Tuesday 3rd August - Tide Times update

The tide times for this weekend in Torbay have been updated.

Princess Pier
I went fishing with a friend Sunday on Princess Pier in Torquay and it was pretty quiet. We had a couple of mackerel and half a dozen Pollock. One of the Pollock was getting on for 2lb and was caught in the Marina.

On Saturday I was fishing off Princess Pier for Mackerel and caught a black bream which was the first time I've caught one from there.

Brixham Breakwater
I heard reports of the Dolphins now swimming around the Brixham area at the end of last week causing a reduction in catches. No news from over the weekend.
