ANSTY'S COVE
By Barry Gilbert

25 Sept. 05
Fished Anstys Cove from 8.30pm till 12.30am .
I caught 4 dogfish on mackerel off the bottom . Lost quite a bit of gear again .

My mate Tony caught two dog fish one on the bottom and one on a float . Both with mackerel for bait . He also had a good struggle with something bigger but it snapped the line which was 18LB breaking strain .Was it another CONGER perhaps ??

A really good nights fishing - weather mild and very calm sea .

ODDICOMBE & BABBACOMBE
By Luke Tillen

Fished the walk between oddicombe and babbacombe beaches, nearer the oddicombe end on 20.9.05 between 10.30am and 12.00pm. Sorry no Bass to report but had great fun with the wrasse, bites on almost every cast float fishing with rag worm. Lost count of how many were taken sizes varying from about 8oz right up to 2lb. Great fun in a short space of time. Moved on to the pier at babbacombe and caught endless Garfish and a couple of mackerel with the rest of the worm. The usual narrow minded old boys on the pier moaning about catching the Garfish? These fish are great sport, why go fishing and complain at catching fish????

ADMIN NOTICE

I'd like to apologise to a number of people for letting them down this last couple of weeks. My main computer started dying last week so I ordered a new one but it was delayed arriving and then wasn't what I expected. I've lost most of the last week's and this weeks emails as my main computer died and I've been trying to recover files and set up this new one. I am very backlogged as a result and I still have a few days work to go to try and setup the new PC. Apologies if I've let you down but this has been a mad and very stressful couple of weeks.

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER & BABBACOME PIER
By Denis Brooks

Date fished: Saturday 10th September

Fished Brixham breakwater from 8.00pm till 12.30am. Only a couple of bites and no fish caught. Did manage to lose a lot of tackle on the rocks. Not fun.

Moved on to Babbacombe Pier from 1.00am till 3.30am. Can count the number of bites on one hand and again no fish. This was one of the most frustrating evenings i've ever had. Lets hope it gets better.

Friday 9th September 2005

As you can imagine everyone is getting a little secretive about catches due to the 38th Torbay Annual sea angling festival :-)

Fear not, here are the latest reports for you all.

PRINCESS PIER
Although quiet there are quite a lot of pollock to be had around here and I've had unconfirmed reports that during the festival you can "Float" fish inside the harbour & marina. There are some large fish lurking in there so it could be worth checking out!

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
The very tip is producing the best results for mackerel and pollock. Some small but decent Wrasse can be caught if you fish the last third of the breakwater casting between 30 to 100 yards. They seem to still be going for fresh peeler crab if you can get some. Add a couple of rag worm up the hook and they bite much more. I'm still not hearing any reports about congers being caught but for best chances fish inside the breakwater casting only two to five yards.

I haven't heard much about catches from Hopes Nose for a while now but I have heard boat fisherman saying it's been very quiet out there so maybe that's being reflected on the lack of reports coming from there.

BABBACOME PIER
By Denis Brooks
I Fished Babbacombe Pier this morning between 4.30 and 7.30 am. Quite a few bites but nothing taking, but then I managed to to catch a nice size dogfish. It was nice and peaceful!

That's it for now. Good luck to everyone in the festival!

Goodrington Beach
By Nathan Giles

[Friday 2nd] Started at 11.am and fished the incoming tide saw about 10 very good sized bass caught 1 on lug bottoming.
The others did not want to know(tried macky, lures&plugs) they were too busy chasing sand eels . I am going to go back and try freelining a live sandeel as that's all they are interested in at the mo.
nothing else about bar a few tiddlers.
they patrol along the border between weed and sand at the second set of steps they lost interest as the tide was about half in they seemed to be feeding best at slack tide and just as the flood started.

BRIXHAM BREAKWATER
By Denis Brooks

Saturday 3rd September.
Fished brixham breakwater between 8.00pm and 2.00am. Sea was quite rough on the outside so i fished the inner harbour till 12.30am. Lost of bites and managed to lose a conger just as it was coming out the water. But i did catch 1 very good size mackerel. Then switched to the outer of the harbour and caught 1 small rockling. Nice warm evening it was good fun.

Goodrington Beach
By Mike D

Have just got back from fishing at Goodrington promenade. Got there at 5:30 am and fished till 7:30 am, high tide was 4:40 am. Had 25 mackerel on a bass lure, kept 5 and put the rest back as they were a bit small but still over the legal limit. Had a fish almost every other cast.
I had another rod out, fishing on the bottom, with rag and squid on the hooks. One bite in 2 hours, no fish.
