Shakespeare Solara multiplier review
Deciding on fishing equipment is important and often tricky because there are so many options to choose from. This review, by Simon Day, is the Shakespeare Solara multiplier reel.

A nice multiplier but I find prone to backlashes.

I have only recently started using multipliers again after a long gap and I was recommended to use this reel.
It is well built and feels quite sturdy but I have to admit I am suffering from backlashes on 90% of my casts compared to only 5% on the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur multiplier which indicates to me I need to get more practice with this reel. I have tried every setting on this reel but still the problems continue.
The handle on this reel is very similar to the Daiwa Emcast fixed spool which is a handle I really like because it's big enough to really hold onto.
The bite alarm on this reel is really quiet which is something I don't like. The Abu Garcia reel is very loud and even at a fair distance you can hear you have a bite. This isn't the case with this reel which is a shame.
Overall for a cost of around £60 it feels like a reel which costs around £60. Nothing special but will get the job done.
