Abu Garcia Abu Garcia Suveran 13ft beach cast rod Review
Deciding on fishing equipment is important and often tricky because there are so many options to choose from. This review, by Simon Day, is the Abu Garcia Abu Garcia Suveran 13ft beach caster rod

A tough rod for the tougher fish.

You can get away with a lot when fishing but once you go past the normal size catches and head for the 20lb+ fish like conger you're going to need a rod able to cope with the fights.
The Abu Garcia Suveran is a 13ft, 4-6oz rod with very little tip action for smaller fish. It shines when you have a huge beast on the end of your hook because the rod will not bend to extremes like weaker rods do.
You have to pay close attention to the rod when you hook a smaller fish because it is sometimes hard to see you have a bite when the fish is under the 2lb mark. I while ago I was watching the rod and I saw it move left to right slightly. I thought nothing of it until my line started shooting out. When I reeled in I had a 1
½lb whiting on the end. The lack of firm bite detection may put some people off but before I bought the rod the lad in the shop held the tip and told me to try breaking the rod. I had to give it a go :) I put everything I had into breaking it but the rod remained strong and firm. If you want to pull a large fish up a cliff of pier then this one will handle the job very well.
As you can see by my photo above the rod comes with fugi rings and like the Abu Garcia Exodus rods it comes in 3 piece; 2 large and 1 small piece for the butt.
If you're going to be targeting large fish and this includes conger, smoothhound's, large cod etc then this is a good choice to make.
The price of this rod was £175 but it's dropping fast like most others and you may be able to pick one up for around the £100-£130 mark. At this price it really is a great rod to use for those big fish!
