Ring "Endurance" Leisure Lamp Review
Deciding on fishing equipment is important and often tricky because there are so many options to choose from. This review, by Simon Day, is the single bulb Ring Endurance leisure lamp. Bought online from Marsh Tackle.

I bought this light in December last year because I do a lot of night fishing and wanted a good light to aid me. I was going to buy a petrol lamp but the hassle and weight of some of the petrol lamps seemed a bit too much for me so I choose to go the battery route.

The lamp I choose to get was the single bulb version mainly because I already carried a lot of weight and didn't want to add anymore than I had too.
A full battery charge takes a long time (up to 10 hours) and although the makers claim around 4 hours use I've had this going up to 6 hours of continuous use. The remote control is very handy, especially in the winter months when cold wet hands and thick gloves give you trouble gripping anything. Just set the option on the top of the lamp to remote control and just place the remote control on a key ring or something. Each time you need more light it's there at a click of a button. When I first saw it could do this I thought it was just a gimmick but fishing through the winter with cold and wet hands showed me it's far more useful than that.
The light it produces is good enough to see the tip of of a rod or to set up a line. It's also bright enough for the sweep of anything left behind at the end of a nights fishing. It will show up black hooks on the floor without any trouble.

It is certainly 100% waterproof and (thankfully!) it does float in the sea. I say thankfully because I once dropped it into the sea and had to fish it back out. It was on when I dropped it so there was no damage caused. It is made of a very sturdy plastic and the top rim protects the lamp from smashing or cracking if you drop it. After months of use and abuse with a clean up it still looks like new and I've not yet had to replace the bulb or battery.

As with most of my equipment I have really put this thing through hell and it's come out of it none the worse.
For the price tag of around £25 this is nice lamp which does a good job. I've heard the 2 bulb version is much brighter so I may end up buying one at some point in time just to compare.

Also got one of these lamps.
bloody brilliant considering the cost as against a petrol lamp, which seem to be so unpredictable. I would advise though that dont use the remote too much as the battery in the lamp is on standby and does use up the battery a bit quicker. It also comes with a hook so use can hang it up in the beech tent with out the worry of burning anything. I can also get replacment bulbs if necessary
