Where to go sea fishing in torbay in devon

Let me just first point out that these fishing spots in Torquay are based on my own personal experience. I'm not a member of a fishing club but would like to join one at some point.

Fishing from Elberry Cove, Broadsands, Paignton.

General Description

This location is favored by many for bottom fish like flounder and also spinning for Bass.

It's about a 5 minute walk to the location and because of countryside gates and sheepish paths it is not accessible to the disabled who are in wheelchairs. I have seen other footpaths going off in other directions so there might be a more indirect route but I haven't as yet explored them so I'm not sure.

The seabed on Broadsands and Elberry Cove is a real mix. you have sand, shingle, rocks and weed depending on what area you fish in.

Parking Charges

As with all places in Torbay car park charges are bordering on the ridiculous. What most locals do is park just outside the car park on the double yellow lines. These yellow lines are no parking May to September only but it is quite rare to be issued a fixed penalty ticket down there (I've had only one).

Types of fish caught
Photos of species

Catches (depending on season) are mainly Bass, Flounder, Pollock, Mackerel and Garfish.

Rarer catches include cod, black bream and smoothhound

Baits to use

Best baits to use are lures, rubber eels, peeler crab, mackerel strips, rag worm, lug worm, sand eels and squid.

Depth for float

Shallow

Legal issues

None.
